Biography
Mastervibe is one of the UK’s original Underground music / Dj’s & promoters.
Promoting and Djing for over 19 years he is one of the few originals still packing in crowds for both his Dj sets and parties…
DJing:
As a Djs he has always concentrated on playing for the crowd and has always been respected for his tight mixing skills and tune selection, pushing new sounds along with classics.
From his humble beginnings playing to a few dozen ravers in an old club in Cornwall Mastervibe has rocked crowds at festivals and clubs across the UK and USA headling with acts such as Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Scratch Perverts, Stanton Warriors, Kosheen, Friction etc etc every one who has played alongside him will confirm his skillz as a Dj and his passion for playing music.
In recent years Darren has also turned his music career to playing at the now legendary S.I.N ( service industry nights ) in Newquay’s No1 venue ,The Chy Bar where he took on a new night playing all genres of music from rock to reggae and everything in between to the traveling surfers / workers out to party hard. This was a massive success and was a full club each and every Monday all year round.
With this night pushing Darrens music knowledge into new genres he now has the ability and music to rock a crowd what ever the taste in music.
Promoting / marketing:
Darren has worked as the resident Dj & promotions manager to all of Newquays top venues over the years and his experience in these fields has proven to be highly successful every time
throughout the 90’s & 00’s
Darren worked as the main marketing manager for the last 10 years to the Koola klub/Chy bar taking the venue from a small time club / bar to one of the UK’s No’1 dance venues with some of the worlds top acts new and old playing live each and every week to a full house. (live hiphop/r&b ,drum&bass, breakbeat, party mix)
The Sugar lounge putting on surf film premiers and underground parties.(rock,party,breakbeats)
Berties night club involved in the redesign of the club and had the most success events for the club over 2007/08 (house /r&b/break beat & under 18’s)
Barracuda club (2000 capacity) worked in conjuction with the management putting on live bands through to big oldskool events and everything in between).
Along with all of these events he has also run 2 pool teams for the south west pub league (koola & Barracuda) and organized and designed the launch parties for all the above clubs.
Mastervibe has worked alongside other promoters over the years including:

Along with his collaborations he has had many promotions alias on his own over the years bringing many of the world’s leading dance acts to the south west of the UK.
Mastervibe presents (creating & organising the first ever south west DnB awards www.swdnbawards.com now in its 3rd year ,and promoting & Djing alongside massive acts over the years such as Ice’T, Coolio, Scratch Perverts, Dj Yoda, Pendulum, Radio one’s Fabio & Grooverider, West Wood, Kiss FM’s Dj Hype ,Carl Cox ,EZ Rollers, Jumping Jack Frost,dj Cash Money (USA) the list is endless.
Also organised the first live broadcast on the BBC’s One Extra radio show teaming up with Dj L’double and Jungle Drummer.)
The Urban Takeover under 18’s (the UK’s 1st and largest u18’s dance event aimed at 16-18 year olds with headline acts from hip hop to Dnb inc the 1st ever DnB foam party)

Production:
Mastervibe was famous through the 90’s and 00’s for playing both drum & bass and Gabba techno in separate arenas at most of the large warehouse parties ,with him producing both styles for his own label Preponderance recordings (DnB) and Area 51 recordings (gabba) owned by Dj Clarkee, his gabba techno was a hybrid of fast jungle with hard techno kick drums which in its own right was a unique style self named J-Tek with over 20 releases under various aka’s on several labels his gabba production was world famous.
At the same time his DnB production was also very successful with 5 releases on his own label and rave reviews in Dj & Mixmag and over 10 releases on various labels distributed by Mos Music Machine, he also sold over 25 tunes to Beechwood music for releases on pure drum & bass vol 1 & 2, worlds best DNB album, Xklusive DNB album but as he sold these tunes out right they continue to be used under many different names (never sell your music out right)
Mastervibe continues to produce music and has been working on some new tracks due for release soon.

After many years on the worlds Dj scene mastervibe has developed a huge taste for all good music and this has been reflected on his seasonal radio show in the Holiday town of Newquay for the last 6 years playing the underground music show on Friday night/Sat mornings 10pm til 4am with guests.
