Stan Collins

[Bristol U.K ]

Biography

Stan’s love of electronic music started at an early age.
Whilst his friends were buying Wimpy burgers he was saving his money to buy Street Sounds Electro albums from Woolworths.
This soon turned into an obsession for finding new Electro and Hip Hop records.
He eventually saved to buy some Technics SLD3 turntables and a Radio Shack mixer.
Most of his time during the late 80s was spent trying to do the impossible and mix on these pieces of shit.
This didn’t move to the obvious direction of moving straight into the dance music of the early 90s
Although going to raves and parties he eventually found a dance music genre that resonated with him
In the late 90s whilst going to Freskanova parties in London they played the new style of Breaks  that mainly sampled the 80s electro and hip hop he loved.
This started a journey of discovering different and new genres that began appearing in the late 90s.
For a time his sets were an eclectic mix of Breaks,Techno,House,Electro and all points in between.
He spent the mid 2000s in Cornwall where he met Jinal in the seaside resort of Parbados and spent the next 3 years playing Red Square in Newquay as punishment co hosting a night called Lush .
Now based in Bristol where he started the now defunct Sonic Lab Experiment
